Aurel Obreja [was] a storyteller of the first order. He would charm you with his words and convince you deeply. A sculptor by profession. He worked incessantly. His advice was followed by the rest of us, the smallest and the most ordinary. Aurel Obreja was the young man who was sure he would serve his 15-year sentence. His hope was in God alone. [On the second floor, in the corner, is Aurel Obreja, the famous sculptor of bone medallions. Aurel went through the hell of Gherla’s “re-education”, at the same time being unhappy with Mihai Timaru. One day, I had the pleasure of receiving from Aurica Obreja a medallion made of a piece of bone with the face of the Saviour and the crown of thorns on his forehead.
