Aurel Obreja, the confessing sculptor
[On the second floor, in the corner, is Aurel Obreja, the famous sculptor of bone medallions. Aurel went through the hell of Gherla’s “re-education”, at the same time being unhappy with Mihai Timaru. One day, I had the pleasure of receiving from Aurica Obreja a medallion made of a piece of bone with the face of the Saviour and the crown of thorns on his forehead. On the back of the medallion there is Calvary, with the Cross of our salvation, and under the Cross there are four letters: AIUD.
