Born in Craiova in 1924, Cicerone Ionițoiu is today unanimously regarded as one of the most important survivors and witnesses of the Romanian Gulag. His contribution to the documentation and understanding of recent Romanian history is impressive: the ten-volume dictionary, Victims of Communist Terror.
