Director Alexandru Dumitrescu – defender of the torturers
The day after Christmas, the door suddenly opens and in appears Alexandru Dumitrescu, frowning and holding a club.
Țurcanu reports that the legionaries have jumped on the re-educated to kill them, because they want to re-educate themselves!
– Who are these bandits who don’t want to be re-educated? Who are their bosses?
There were 20 of them. We were all leaders of legionary groups. The attackers had two or three times as many. The rest retreated in terror to the back of the room.
That’s when Țurcanu started shouting names:
-“That bandit! Come out!”
Barely crawling, my good comrades came forward.
I regret that I can’t remember the names of my dear friends. But I cannot forget the moment when Țurcanu thundered my name.
There were 5-7 of us (I can’t remember exactly). I was called last. They were the instigators.
Director Dumitrescu started to beat us with a club, one after the other. I remember that when he got to me he asked me my name. I noticed that when he looked at me, his face was terrified. I must have been completely disfigured that he didn’t hit me.
He said a few more words, which I don’t remember exactly. Anyway, it was about what had not been said during the Securitate investigation, which was the main goal at the time: to find all those who were still at large.
