Gheorghe – he was clean, kind, wise and happy
Gheorghe was another young man who seemed a little superficial. Many thought he was incapable of high and deep inner feelings and looked at him with wonder when he came to listen to spiritual discussions. He often visited Valeriu and asked him for guidance in the prayer of the heart, which he also practised in secret. As he was very ill and mostly bedridden, we were not aware of his ministry until Valeriu brought it to our attention.
Gheorghe had reached high heights in prayer. He was cheerful and calm. He received gifts and visions in the Spirit. He was pure, gentle, wise and happy. He too was called by the political officer to take streptomycin in exchange of denunciation, but his refusal was so short and categorical that the officer cursed him and sent him to bed. He was like a child. He ended his life smiling.
