Goe Nițescu preferred to die rather than sell his soul
Not infrequently, this Christian life was tested and clarified by the fire of hard trials. For example, when the political officer proposed to him that he become an informer in exchange for some streptomycin from home, which would have saved his life, the student Goe Nițescu indignantly rejected the Security Service officer’s bait, preferring to die rather than sell his soul. Others did the same.[1]
