“I was brought up to fear nothing in life but my father and God”

At the first production meeting held by the political officer Alexander in the courtyard of the colony, one of the perforators, Clapon Gheorghe, an aviator from Brăila, bluntly replied to the political officer with the following words: “We do not believe in the promises you make us, nor are we afraid of the threats we know you are capable of. I was brought up to fear nothing in life but my father and God. We will work only to the best of our ability and only as long as we believe that what we are doing is right”.
