Ilie Niculescu – his kindness of heart went to the point of sacrifice
Professor at the Academy of Higher Commercial Studies in Bucharest. Beautiful man in face and soul. Intelligent, cultured and a man of action. Ideal fighter, active Christian. A knight of untarnished honour and yet a loser.
He was the lightning rod of a mighty and spiteful storm. He suffered immensely. This man who was reviled, mocked, considered a symbol of rebellion was in fact a pure dreamer and idealist. His goodness of heart went to the point of sacrifice. There was no room in his heart for hatred, he so much hated.
In 1964, he came out of prison broken. He continued to live under a rain of insults and slander. Traumatised for a lifetime, he died in 1968 of repeated cardiac arrest.
