Professor Zamfiroiu was constantly preoccupied with spiritual and religious issues

Professor Zamfiroiu (later Father Grigore) was always preoccupied with spiritual and religious matters. He also suffered a lot in his life: imprisonment, persecution…

He composed poems. He has a wonderful “march of the prisoners”, which I learnt when I was in the mine, from those who came from the canal. And the melody does justice to the lyrics. The refrain is like a premonition of our mission in Romania tomorrow:

“They’re coming back from the prison pit
The white men, the grey youth,
The onslaught of holy life is coming
From dungeons, camps and mines.”
