Request to the M.I.A. by Elisabeta Bazilescu (1964, Craiova)
I, the undersigned Elisabeta Bazilescu, legitimate wife of the priest Bazilescu Aurel, until 1 March 1964 residing at 44 Karl Marx Street, and since 1 March 1964 residing at 20-23 August Boulevard, inform you of the following: my husband, the priest Bazilescu Aurelian, was taken away by the state authorities on 26 June 1959. The release certificate reads as follows “The named Bazilescu Aurelian, born on 13 August 1907, in the commune of Tălpaș, Amaradia County, Oltenia Region, priest by profession, son of Ștefan and Ioana, was detained as a convict from 26 June 1959 to 26 June 1962, with warrant no. 10052/959 issued by the M.A.I., because he was released by the M.I.A. after the expiry of his sentence under order no. 772268/962. The named person resides in the commune of Craiova, Karl Marx Street No. 44, Craiova District, Oltenia Region”.
My husband is seriously ill and has submitted his retirement papers. However, we need the M.I.A. to specify that Bazilescu Șt. Aurelian was not convicted after a trial during the period from 26 June 1959 to 26 June 1962, when he was imprisoned in Craiova Prison. Please inform me as a matter of urgency that my husband has not been tried and convicted, as this is necessary for my pension file. I enclose a copy of the reply of the Military Court of Craiova No. 558/14 March 1964, which shows that he has not been tried and convicted. I have contacted the Directorate of the Militia of the Oltenia Region, which has not replied. I contacted the prison in Craiova, which told me to contact the M.I.A. in Bucharest.
