Spiru Blănaru’s message to the Romanian people
On 16 January 1949, a law was passed that provided for the death penalty for anyone found to be fighting against the state and causing deaths in the ranks of the Security Service forces. All we had left was to fight to the death. On 23 January 1949 I went to Spiru Blănaru to discuss what we should do. We were expecting a major attack by the Security Service forces.
