Father Ștefan Marcu – A symbol of the anti-communist resistance in Vrancea
Father Ștefan Marcu was born on 28 November 1906 in Poiana, in a family with a priestly tradition, one of his ancestors being the priest Ion Danțiș from Nistorești, known as the “Patriarch of Vrancea”. He suffered the martyrdom of the communist prisons for 15 years and went to God through a violent death. Father Ștefan Marcu, a great Orthodox believer and lover of the nation, is another of the many Orthodox priests who sacrificed themselves for the faith.
